Photo Library of Hyogo Prefecture No.6 ~Kinosaki and Yumura~ 2 Hot Springs located in the northern part of Hyogo Prefecture

We will introduce the emotional nightscape photographs of the two hot springs in northern Hyogo Prefecture, the Kinosaki Onsen loved by literary person “Bokkaku” and Yumura Onsen known for the ”Yumechiyo diary”.

<Kinosaki Hot Springs and Landscape for willow tree lined>

The scenery of the willow tree lined that follow along the Ohtani River is a typical landscape of Kinosaki Onsen. When the sunset is over and the fire lit in the lantern, it will become an increasingly emotional landscape. There are wooden inns, retro playgrounds, stylish cafés and souvenir shops along north/south section of Yanagi Street. In addition, the five bridges crossing the Ohtani River are designated as important buildings for the prefecture’s landscape formation. The stone of Genbudo cave is used at seawall.

There are seafood stores and souvenir shops in front of the station that runs from Jizo hot spring to Kinosaki station. There is also a marine products shop with a restaurant where you can eat fresh fish dishes. There is open air bath “Sato no yu” in front of the station.

Kiyamachi street followed by cherry blossom trees. There are Kiya machi alley and the wheat straw work trade hall nearby where delicious items and souvenirs of Kinosaki are gathered. There is also a taste of flower rafts where cherry blossom petals are scattered on the river.

There are seven hot springs in Kinosaki Hot Spring, Ichi no yu bath, Gosho no yu bath, Mandara yu bath, Sato no yu bath,Yanagi yu bath, Jizo yu bath, and the Kono yu bath. It is a real thrill of Kinosaki Hot Spring to visit open air bath wearing a yukata and clogs.

<Kinosaki Hot Spring is a suit town of yukata>

Kinosaki Onsen is known as “Yukata’s suite town”, and wearing a yukata and wearing clogs is said to be formal wear. It is a typical scenery of Kinosaki Hot Spring as people going around Yanagi dori street while wearing a yukata while sounding clogs. Each inn has “Yukata inn” that has individuality.

Yukata specialty shop Iroha next to the outside hot spring “Gosho no yu”. It is a shop for renting and selling yukata. It is a beautiful shop where you can not get tired of watching colorful Yukata, obi, geta, small items of Japanese horsetail, sliding doors with storks drawn. Rental Yukata can choose favorites from about 200 kinds. It is safe even for beginner Yuka because styling & coordination of one clothes suits professional dresser. Of course, it is with hair set service as well. There is also a yukata for men. For girls’ trips, couples, changing clothes to Yukata will make walking around Kinosaki more pleasant.

<Kinosaki International Art Center>

The Kinosaki International Art Center is an artist-in-residence facility that mainly performing arts, renovating the former Kinosaki large conference hall has a room for 1000 people capacity. Artists selected by public recruitment once or twice a year in the world will stay at the Shirosaki International Art Center for the shortest 3 days to the longest 3 months and will make works. Staying accommodation, use of hall / studio can be used 24 hours at any time by free of charges. The Kinosaki Art Center supports futuristic artist for creation by stay and also supports the activities for sending new works throughout Japan and throughout the world. Staying artists will not only publish the work they produce at Kinosaki, but also conduct regional exchange programs where citizens can participate, such as workshops and round table discussions. In addition, anyone can use the lobby of Kinosaki Art Center. In the lobby, free reading books are stored on a shelf by theme. A modern bookcase with wheels will be a mobile library.

<Yumura Hot Spring, Yumechiyo statue>

Yumura Hot Spring has become the stage of NHK drama ‘Yume Chiyo Diary’. There is a Yumechiyo statue modeling Yoshinaga Sayuri who played the heroine by drama on the bank of the Haruki River overlooking “Ara-yu”. “Yume Chiyo diary” was a drama depicting the living condition of a hot spring geisha, Yume Chiyo and people surrounding her, who was sentenced to burning in the womb in Hiroshima and was sentenced to life expectancy for three years. The pedestal was donated by Hiroshima City for prayer for permanent peace. Yoshinaga Sayuri and performers’ bills are decorated.

<Yumura Hot Spring “Ara-yu”>

Yumura Hot Spring is one of the top high-temperature hot springs in Japan, with hot water of 98 degrees flowing out at 470 liters per minute. It is said that it was discovered by “Jikaku Taishi” (848) about 1150 years ago from now. “Ara-yu” is the source of Yumura Hot Spring. Ara-yu is always crowded with tourists who boil the eggs in the hot water vase on which the hot water runs up. Along the Haruki River there is a foot bath with the name of “Fureai no yu” and you can relax and enjoy the foot bath while watching the swimming carp and duck.
